Njivice - Island of Krk

Experience a true summer holiday in the charming atmosphere of a seaside tourist resort! The great beaches, exceptionally blue sea, abundant shade, and mild climate attract a growing number of visitors to Njivice each year.

A former fishing village, Njivice is today a renowned tourist resort, a coastal location with soul, and a favourite destination for visitors from Europe and beyond. Tourism in Njivice started to emerge in 1930 when the Hotel Luka (the present Jadran) and the Villa Dinka were built. Since then, tourism has been the main livelihood for the people of Njivice. Before that, the main activities were fishing, olive growing, livestock breeding, and forestry.

The island of Krk is the first Adriatic island that you'll encounter when coming from the north. It is located in Kvarner Bay and was known in Roman times as Insula aurea – the Golden Island. Krk is the ideal destination for all those who want to enjoy a holiday on an island but who also want to avoid long journeys and ferry rides. This is possible because Krk is easily accessible from the mainland via Krk Bridge, from the sea by boat or by ferry to the harbour of Valbiska, and by plane to Rijeka International Airport, which is located close to Omišalj.

THE BEACHES in Njivice

The beaches in Njivice are located right at the centre of things and offer a variety of amenities for a fulfilling day by the sea close to a number of cafés and restaurants. For those who prefer peace and quiet, there are natural beaches located in the nearby coves away from the centre.

Jadran Beach in Njivice has been awarded the Blue Flag for the cleanliness of the sea and the coast, as well as for the quality of the services and facilities they offer. In addition, Krk has something to suit every taste: pebbly, sandy and rocky beaches in the campsites or more secluded ones that can only be reached by boat or along ancient shepherds' paths that border a pine forest.
